Attorney Dos Santos Lead Counsel in Innovative Housing for Homeless Veterans
June 10, 2010 | Robinson Donovan, P.C.

Attorney Antonio E. Dos Santos, as lead counsel to United Veterans of America, Inc. d/b/a Soldier On, and its wholly owned subsidiary Soldier On Veterans Village I, LLC has recently completed a complex project regarding the financing and development of property in Pittsfield, Massachusetts which will serve as permanent housing for formerly homeless veterans. This “first of its kind” development which has gained national attention will provide formerly homeless veterans with home ownership opportunities through a limited equity co-operative corporation. Attorney Dos Santos’ representation included: the creation of a limited equity co-operative corporation; placement of affordable housing financing which included private and public financing from Berkshire Bank and several state and federal agencies including the Commonwealth of Massachusetts acting by and through the Department of Housing and Community Development; and all real estate subdivision, zoning and municipal approval matters regarding the real property in Pittsfield.

Tony will continue to represent Soldier On in the creation of similar developments regionally and nationally. This model housing has been recognized by national military and housing specialists as a major step forward in winning the battle against veteran homelessness.
